Xtumble: a successful ERP management system developed with Delphi
Xtumble is a comprehensive ERP management system, entirely developed with Delphi. The platform allows companies to register and create isolated environments with dedicated databases, disk space, and customized user management. This architectural approach enables infinite scalability and easy transition for clients who want an on-premise solution.
With a FirebirdSQL database and logic fully managed through Triggers and Stored Procedures, Xtumble integrates numerous backend modules developed with Delphi:
XTNode: Middle Tier/Web Server for Linux, handles access to databases and implements a recursive HTML parser, similar to HTMLX, for managing data in HTML templates. It also handles data synchronization and implements critical APIs such as PayPal/Stripe.
MailAgent: Management of sending and receiving emails with various providers or custom SMTP servers.
ReportServer: Creation of custom reports for clients using FastReport.
ImportBatch: Module for batch data imports.
FEBatchEngine: Electronic invoicing module integrated with Aruba and TeamSystem Digital Invoice.
XTumbleDesktop: Desktop version for Windows.
XTWebSocketEngine: Libraries for bidirectional communication via WebSocket.
Front-End Expansion and Mobile Applications
Initially accessible only via browser, Xtumble expanded its offering with two native apps for iOS and Android: Xtumble Magazzino and Xtumble Retail. Both apps use the XTNode HTML parser to create a web front-end, integrated via WebView. The applications offer offline functionality thanks to IBTOGO and manage data synchronization when the network connection is restored.
In just a few months, the apps gained thousands of users, with an average of five new registrations per day, mainly for the iOS warehouse app.
The Role of Delphi
Delphi played a key role in the development of Xtumble and its apps, thanks to its ability to reuse code across multiple platforms (iOS, Android, Mac, Windows, and Linux), the power of IBTOGO for offline management, and the ease of implementing WebSocket and push notifications with SecureBridge and Firebase.
